Thomas and Abigail tied the knot last year at the beautiful Broxmouth Courtyard, and their wedding day was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love photographing weddings. Relaxed, joy-filled, and bathed in sunshine from start to finish, it was a celebration centred entirely around the people who matter most to them.

Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Thomas and Abigail chose Broxmouth Courtyard for its character, gorgeous charm and incredible outdoor spaces and the venue absolutely delivered. With the sun shining all day, they were able to spend the majority of their wedding outside in the courtyard, soaking up the atmosphere and making the most of the stunning outdoor space.
The day had a wonderfully laid-back feel from the very beginning. Guests gathered in the courtyard, drinks in hand, chatting and laughing with the warm weather bringing an extra sense of ease to the day. Everything felt unhurried and natural, perfect conditions for candid, storytelling, documentary style photographs. The gorgeous flowers by Occasions of Eyemouth Florists really dressed the ceremony room perfectly and Abigail's bridal bouquet was the finishing touch she needed to match her floral printed wedding dress from Bijoux Bridal.

One of my favourite personal touches of the day was Abigail’s dad’s old and very loved Land Rover Defender, which took pride of place in the courtyard. It was a brilliant nod to family and sentiment, and it made for some incredible photo opportunities. The Defender added so much character and was clearly a special part of the day for Abigail and her family. They first mentioned the car back at our first meeting but they were unsure it would make the drive from East Kilbride. I was so pleased to see it had made it in one piece. Moments like these, where personal touches are entirely them, are always a joy to capture.

Thomas and Abigail were a dream to photograph. They were completely present with each other and their guests, never worrying about the camera, which allowed me to document the day exactly as it unfolded. From quiet moments shared together to big laughs with friends, every part of the day felt genuine and full of warmth.
The outdoor courtyard setting really came into its own throughout the day, from mingling and celebrations to relaxed group photos and couple portraits. The natural light, stone walls, and open space created such a timeless backdrop, and the sunshine elevated everything. It’s always special when a couple can truly enjoy their venue rather than rushing between spaces, and Thomas and Abigail made the most of every moment outdoors.
As the day moved into the evening, the attention to personal details continued with a beautifully styled dinner setup that reflected Thomas and Abigail perfectly. The tables were thoughtfully dressed with meaningful touches. One of the standout details was the name tags made from cow ear tags, a subtle but brilliant nod to Thomas's farming roots. It was a detail that sparked smiles and conversation as guests found their seats.
The farming theme carried through into the table names and signage, with cows featured throughout the dining space. These playful, personal elements suited Broxmouth Courtyard perfectly with the stone walls, exposed wood and rustic flooring. It was a perfect example of how to incorporate personality and heritage into a wedding day without it feeling forced.
Thomas and Abigail’s wedding at Broxmouth Courtyard was a perfect example of how beautiful a wedding can be when it’s focused on connection, family, and enjoying the moment. A stunning venue, glorious weather, heartfelt personal touches, and two people clearly meant for each other. It was an absolute pleasure to photograph.
If you’re planning a wedding at Broxmouth Courtyard and dreaming of a relaxed, outdoor-focused celebration, this day was proof that it doesn’t get much better than this when the weather is on your side.
